Research Interests:

The Lingner laboratory has had a longstanding interest in how telomeres are being replicated and maintained by the telomerase reverse transcriptase. We are trying to elucidate how in cancer cells telomerase is regulated at chromosome ends by telomere binding proteins and how TERRA, a large non-coding (lnc) RNA which is transcribed at telomeres may impact on telomere structure and function. More recently the Lingner-lab is also developing novel technologies to purify telomeres and elucidate telomere composition by mass spectrometry.
